The wrestling event was held in Lai An, also known as Sinh village. This is one of the villages formed quite early in Dang Trong, located along the Perfume River, downstream of Sinh junction (the procession belongs to Tu Vinh district or Mau Tai district), now is Phu Mau commune, Phu Vang district, Thua province. Thien Hue. Sinh village is also the last address to the South that still preserves the martial arts tradition.
The traditional Sinh village wrestling has a history of more than 200 years and has developed continuously up to now. This wrestling festival is different from wrestling in other villages because people organize wrestling as a form of entertainment after the New Year, not for the purpose of selecting martial artists for the feudal court at that time.
In the olden days, "Sinh village" was just an alluvial ground of three river tributaries combined. Here, the terrain is flat and spacious, so it was requisitioned by the Nguyen lords as a place to practice martial arts of the imperial soldiers. When the army officers of the Nguyen court returned to this place to practice martial arts, Sinh village had a page where teenagers were fascinated with the wrestling moves of martial arts generals, so they joined the army.
After many battles, the war ended, this teenager returned to the village to get married, and later presented a form of wrestling for his children and grandchildren in the family to practice to improve their health. This person was later honored by the village as the ancestor of wrestling.
The traditional wrestling festival of Sinh village has long become a big festival, a cultural feature imbued with its own identity and deeply rooted in the blood of every person in Sinh village. The wrestling festival is also a meaningful early spring playground, an interesting tourist destination for tourists to visit every spring.
