Ba Be Lake - a jade in the middle of the mountains

(CPV) - As a famous tourist area in the Northeast region of Vietnam, home to a diverse ecosystem, interesting natural scenery, Ba Be Lake is likened by many tourists to a jade among the mountains and forests.

Ba Be Lake is 70 km northwest of Bac Kan city center, in the core area of ​​Ba Be National Park, Nam Mau commune, Ba Be district, Bac Kan province. This is one of the largest natural freshwater lakes in Vietnam.

According to documents, Ba Be Lake formed about 200 million years ago due to geological fluctuations causing subsidence of the lakes. Limestone mountains are formed, surrounded by limestone mountains interspersed with ancient sandstone and primeval forests.

 Ba Be Lake is made up of 3 lakes: Pe Leng, Pe Lu and Pe Lam. Ba Be Lake is over 8 km long, 2 km wide at its widest place, with a water surface area of ​​about 500 ha, an average depth of 20 m, some places up to 35 m deep. The lake has many species of freshwater fish and aquatic animals, including many rare and precious fishes recorded in the Vietnam Red Book such as Kinh carp, Blue carp, Chien fish...
