Lai Thieu fruit garden was formed next to the Saigon River flowing from Ho Chi Minh City to the city of Thuan An, Binh Duong province, then it splits into two branches, forming a small island. The land and fruit trees here all year round are accreted and irrigated by the two branches mentioned above.

The special attraction of Lai Thieu Fruit Garden is the blend of dozens of fruit trees: durian, mangosteen, female jackfruit, sapote, custard apple, bon bon, etc. .

The panoramic view of Lai Thieu Fruit Garden stretches as far as the eye can see on an area of ​​closely connected canals along the Saigon River all the way to Thu Dau Mot city. From such natural conditions, the gentle, hospitable, and hard-working nature of the people here has formed, the images of cultivating, fertilizing, harvesting, transporting, trading and trading on the river. , welcoming visitors to the garden to enjoy, until diners from all over the world  come to this place... Lai Thieu fruit garden, where there are all kinds of delicious and sweet fruits, is famous for many specialty fruits such as durian, mangosteen, bon bon ... which have been grown for a long time in the South of Vietnam.

Durian is a typical fruit of the southern land, if Mangosteen is a specialty fruit that can be said to be the "champion" of the old Thu Dau Mot, the taste quality of Lai Thieu Durian is always appreciated by diners. almost ranked first in the taste table fruits in the South.

Today, there are many places where durian trees are grown with a large area, for high yield and quality. But many people still think that "Durian grown in Lai Thieu is tastier and has a distinctive flavor".

The taste of Durian fruit is very special, when ripe, it emits a strong aroma, creating many stories of praise, dislike, liking and alienation, especially for those who are not familiar with the taste of Durian fruit. . But in general, Durian fruit seems to have conquered the majority of diners nationwide and the taste of durian is still widely used in confectionery and popular drinks.

Besides Durian, there is also a special fruit tree that is the most prominent symbol for the land of Thu Dau Mot - Binh Duong, which is the mangosteen tree, which has been grown for a long time and is very famous in Lai Thieu garden.

Many authors believe that: "mangocalyptus is a fruit from Thu Dau Mot, Lai Thieu, brought back by Catholic priests, according to the theory that it is from Ba Da Loc or priest Tabert"(7). Southern writer Son Nam also agreed with the above opinion, citing additional evidence: "According to Melleret, the first mangosteen tree brought from Malaysia to the South was planted in Lai Thieu and at Lai Thieu parish church". Someone asserted: "Going to Lai Thieu fruit garden, if you haven't eaten Mangosteen, that is, you don't know the taste of Lai Thieu fruit, because Mangosteen here in addition to high yield, also has a special delicious taste. Mangosteen cannot be found elsewhere. Currently, Lai Thieu is considered the area with the largest bamboo growing area in Southeast Asia.

The name "Mangosper" is probably Vietnamese sound reading from the French words mangoustan (mangostain fruit - Mangosteen in English) and Mangoustanier (mango tree). The Chinese call mangosteen "Son bamboo tu" or "ma kidney". Later, the Hue people also called the mangosteen fruit "Giang Chau" - the name given by King Minh Mang.

It is known that the mangosteen tree in Cochinchina has been grown in Hue for a long time and the tree is also "drunk", the quality is quite good. Especially mangosteen fruit in Hue is out of season with the bamboo shoot season in the South. “I think that the mangosteen tree living on Kim Long (Hue) land must have been around for a long time (…) also from the time Gia Long ascended the throne, receiving the products of the two regions and going to the capital. Because it is said that the mangosteen variety was brought out from the South by Mrs. Tu Du.

For a long time, Lai Thieu - Binh Duong has been known as a place with many famous delicious tropical fruits and since then has formed the typical Southern rustic dishes.
