TPO - Ngan Truoi - Cam Trang irrigation project in Vu Quang district (Ha Tinh) has the highest earthen dam in Vietnam with a height of 61.8m and a storage capacity of 775 million m3 of water. This is a super irrigation project in the Central region and the third largest reservoir in the country.

Ngan Truoi - Cam Trang irrigation project is invested by the Irrigation Investment and Construction Management Board 4 (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) with a total value of over 7,857 billion VND. This is the tallest earthen dam project in Vietnam with a height of 61.8m, a storage capacity of 775 million m3 of water and is also a super irrigation project of the Central region.

Built in 2009, the project began operating in 2018. It is the third largest reservoir in the country, with a large capacity and is responsible for supplying water for industrial production and regulating irrigation of 32,585 hectares of agricultural land. of 8 districts and towns and nearly 6,000 hectares of aquaculture...

The main dam of Ngan Truoi Lake helps store water and regulate floods with a flood prevention capacity of 157 million m3. At the foot of the dam of this lake is a combined power generation project of nearly 20 MW.

The project management unit said that the dam body is built with a load-bearing concrete beam system to ensure operation and prevent landslides. When construction began in 2009, there were many difficulties, especially in the design of the flood spillway.

With a dam crest design elevation of 57.8 m and a reservoir capacity of 775 million m³, Ngan Truoi - Cam Trang lake shows effective water storage and flood regulation for the downstream area.

Water from Ngan Truoi Cam Trang lake flows to the downstream area to serve agricultural irrigation.

From December 2018, the project was put into operation synchronously with the Vu Quang weir and 17km main canal load test according to the design task of phase 1. In 2018 - 2019, the lake serves to irrigate about 150 - 250 million m3 each year. , in 2019 completely replaced Linh Cam pumping station.

The Ngan Truoi - Cam Trang irrigation project and the accompanying concrete road system also contribute to the development of goods trade of mountainous communes.

The entire area of Ngan Truoi - Cam Trang reservoir is located in a special-use forest managed and protected by Vu Quang National Park. This is considered a land with great potential and advantages for developing eco-tourism.
