In addition to the business of providing wedding and anniversary items, the stalls at Le Quang Sung Street, District 6, Ho Chi Minh City also retail to serve the people's religious and worship needs.

Thanks to the special feature of being a center of betel nut trading to serve the needs of weddings, anniversaries, and pagoda ceremonies of the people of the city for more than half a century, "Wedding Street - betel and areca nut Cho Lon" with about 16 stalls was officially established on June 29 at Le Quang Sung Street (District 6, Ho Chi Minh City).

Since its establishment, the simple burdens of betel nut on the sidewalks of small businesses have been invested in more spacious stalls. Here, small traders mainly display a number of products made from betel leaves, areca berries, and are decorated with eye-catching decorations. Most of betel nut are imported directly from Hoc Mon (HCMC) or some neighboring provinces such as Ben Tre, Quang Ngai...

Over a period of time, most of the small businesses who still stick to this job are elderly women. The youngest person is also over 50 and the oldest is over 80. Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa (70 years old) shared: "I have been selling betel and areca here since 1968. After more than 50 years with many joys and sorrows, this profession has become a profession. I have attached my whole life. As long as I can walk, I will still sell betel nut. Sell to make a living, to make a living, to keep the memory of a golden age, to keep the traditions and culture of grandparents to again".

Mrs. Trang sat meticulously pasting each word "happiness" to decorate the wedding chamber: "Since the date of this street, not only have acquaintances but also many strangers and foreign guests come to see and buy betel nut. Hopefully in the future, this street will be busier and more crowded." According to Ms. Trang, about the past 10 years, this betel and areca street has become increasingly empty of buyers. Usually a few people come to ask. Some people only sell a few kilos a day. Some people don't even earn a dime, take the time to put their goods out and then move back home.

Ms. Le Hoa (owner of the stall) said that currently, her entire family of 3 generations keeps the profession of selling betel nut and making wedding gifts, including: betel nut, drinking wine, fruit, and bride's cake. "My family is each in charge of a separate stage," she said.

Her full package of gifts ranges from 2 to 3 million VND with many colorful wedding cake models, designs.

In addition to the business of providing wedding and anniversary items, the stalls here also retail for customers to serve the needs of beliefs and worship. The areca berries retail for 30 at a price of 100,000 VND. The seller is always willing to give betel nut to the customer.

Along with "Cho Lon wedding - betel nut street", District 6 also has other specialized streets such as Hau Giang shopping street, Cho Lon fabric flower street, Nguyen Huu Than accessory street. Thereby, it not only contributes to enriching business and tourism activities, but also adds to the economic advantages of Binh Tay service and trade center cluster, preserving the traditional cultural beauty of the Vietnamese people.
