In particular, in this complex there is a wonderful destination. beautiful but few people know about it. Am Tien Pagoda Ninh Binh is located in Am Tien Cave, in Truong Yen commune, Hoa Lu district. This destination is only 400 meters from the East gate of King Dinh Tien Hoang temple, adjacent to the East citadel of the ancient capital Hoa Lu. With a location almost separate from outside life, this temple possesses beautiful beauty that fascinates visitors from near and far. Am Tien Cave Pagoda is located in the valley, surrounded by rocky cliffs, with a prominent pagoda roof printed on the water surface, creating a watercolor painting in the distance.
The pagoda plays an important role in Vietnamese history. According to Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Nhat (former Director of the Institute of History), Am Tien cave pagoda is like a separate world. In the past, this was the place where King Dinh kept tigers and leopards to punish criminals, right under his feet. Dia Mountain is Ao Giai, where the king raised prizes to throw sinners into the pond for the prize to eat. This is also the place where King Le Dai Hanh imprisoned prisoners of war such as Quach Quan Bien and Trieu Phung Huan of the Song dynasty that invaded Dai Co Viet in 981, only to return them to envoy Ly Giac in 986. As a testament to history, Am Tien Pagoda is where Queen Mother Duong Van Nga practiced in the last years of her life. To talk about this story, there was once a poem:
“Two shoulders carry two Kings
Two queens of two dynasties practiced at Am Tien Pagoda
Followed her husband to attack Tong Binh Chiem
There is merit to the country, but no luck to life."
Am Tien Pagoda possesses captivating beauty, making travelers fall in love with it. When you have the opportunity to visit Ninh Binh, remember to visit Am Tien cave pagoda, light a stick of incense, and enjoy the beautiful scenery that nature has bestowed on the ancestral land of Hoa Lu.
