Hon Yen is a geological wonder, a 70m high cylindrical basalt island with hundreds of hexagonal red-brown and black stone columns running along vertical and oblique veins formed from volcanoes millions of years ago. Under the clear blue sea water, Hon Yen corals with all shapes and colors look from afar like peacocks dancing to the vibrant music of the sea. Small schools of fish began to appear leisurely swimming under the coral reefs. If you are observant, visitors can also see sea cucumbers, sea urchins and starfish clinging to beautiful coral reefs.
