Pac Ta mountain is also known as "Xa Ta" mountain associated with a legend from ancient times. In the past, in a dense forest, there were many wild animals, in which elephants were healthy animals but difficult to tame, the villagers found all sorts of ways to tame elephants to use as traction to transport goods.

That year, foreign invaders invaded, the local people concentrated all their forces on the fight to protect the country, including the herd of tamed elephants. However, in the herd of elephants, there is a male elephant that is the strongest and strongest in the herd, and no one can tame it. How many good generals have to give up before the ferocious elephant. In the village, there is a brave elephant handler who applied for this job.

The first day, he let the young and old in the village use rocks to block all streams and creeks around the elephant forest. Three days later, the male elephant was thirsty, and at this time he poured wine into the hollow for the elephant to drink instead of water. Five days, then ten days, the elephant drank wine instead of water, gradually becoming accustomed to wine and the mahout. He has tamed a ferocious male elephant, able to put his arm on his back and control the elephant to follow orders. Since then, people in the village called "wine elephant".

On the day of the battle, the "wine elephant" bravely rushed to the front to destroy the enemy's formation. After returning victorious, the "wine elephant" was named the "Duke Elephant" by the king and held a lavish banquet to entertain the generals. "Wine elephants" suck from one bottle of wine to another. Too drunk, the "wine elephant" stopped breathing. But strangely, the elephant died but still stood majestically, with a majestic appearance like in battle. That night it rained heavily, the wind howled as if expressing the grief of the villagers for the "wine elephant". The next morning, people saw that both the elephant and the wine bottle had turned to stone, that stone block grew bigger and bigger into today's Pac Ta mountain.
