From the end of the 13th century until now, this temple also commemorates Hung Dao Dai Vuong Tran Quoc Tuan and the generals under the Tran Dynasty who contributed to protecting the country, three times defeating the Yuan - Mongol armies from the country's borders. Because of its history of more than 4,000 years, Dong Bang Temple is associated with many thrilling legends. Among them, the story about Father Bat Hai is the story that is passed down the most by word of mouth. Legend has it that during the reign of the 18th Hung King, when foreigners invaded the country, the court gathered powerful soldiers and prepared them carefully, but because the enemy was too strong, they had to set up Trieu Linh Son Tu Khi temple to pray.
