When Dong Bang Temple was built, it was a place to worship King Father Bat Hai Dong Dinh, who had the merit of helping King Hung expel foreign invaders and establish villages to help the people. From the end of the 13th century until now, this temple also commemorates Hung Dao Dai Vuong Tran Quoc Tuan and the generals under the Tran Dynasty who contributed to protecting the country, three times defeating the Yuan - Mongol armies from the country's borders.

King Hung also repaired the palace and built it into a temple for people to remember. Many stories say that Vinh Cong Dai Vuong is very sacred. In the 13th century, when the Yuan-Mongol invaders invaded our country, Hung Dao Vuong brought his generals to the temple to pray for blessings.
After driving away the Yuan and Mongol armies three times, Tran Dynasty soldiers contributed to renovating the temple to make it more spacious.
