Bach Ma was discovered and explored by a French engineer named M.Girard in 1932. The name "Bach Ma" comes from the white clouds surrounding the top of the mountain, meaning "white horse". Bach Ma National Park is located in Phu Loc district, Thua Thien Hue province, about 40km south of Hue City and 65km north of Da Nang city. This national park is part of the Truong Son Bac range with many mountains over 1000m high running horizontally from West to East.
