These salty salt grains have always been the source of life for people in remote and remote island hamlets.

Thieng Lieng is currently one of the rare regions that still preserves the region's traditional salt making methods such as using rollers, wooden water paddles and hand-cranking. The salt making season here usually starts from the monsoon season (around the 10th lunar month) and lasts until April of the following year.

Ms. Muoi's homestay is in a chain of 16 services participating in the community tourism project on Thieng Lieng island hamlet - the first true community tourism product of Ho Chi Minh City. All food and drinks on the tour are made, cooked, and processed by local people themselves using handmade methods and ingredients available in the garden. These include dishes such as ginseng, banh loc, aloe vera juice, or coastal cuisine such as red goby fish and oysters.

Tourism services on the island are coordinated by Thieng Lieng Agricultural and Commercial Tourism Services Cooperative. Every month, households participating in community tourism in the island hamlet sit together, frankly discuss what is possible and what is limited, and give suggestions to jointly develop the model. Community tourism helped Thieng Lieng attract more than 2,000 visitors in just a few months, bringing in more than 400 million VND in revenue.
