Lim Festival – The most famous traditional festival in Bac Ninh

The history of the Lim Society was passed down orally in many different versions. There is a notion that the Lim festival originated from the pagoda festival, the singing festival, related to the singing of Truong Chi, but the old mark left by the Tieu Tuong river is quite clear in the villages of the Lim region. This theory is based on the legend of Truong Chi - My Nuong.

Lim Association has a very long history, and has grown to the size of a general association (total Noi Due). On the basis of traditional festivals of the villages in Noi Due (including 6 communes and wards: Noi Due (Dinh Ca and Lo Bao), Noi Due Khanh, Noi Due Nam, Lung Giang, Xuan O and the ward singing the gate of Tien communal house Du (later Due Dong) with a variety of processions, sacrifices and folk art activities, such as: singing military drums, cheo singing, ca tru, tuong singing and quan ho singing..., vien district Cong Do Nguyen Thuy - a native of Dinh Ca village, Noi Due, Kinh Bac province, has donated a lot of his fields and gardens and money to General Noi Due to restore temples and pagodas, open festivals, and maintain fine customs and traditions. naturalization ceremony to pray for good luck every January, according to the tradition of "spring and autumn, two periods." Thus, Duke Do Nguyen Thuy is the one who has developed from the festival of worshiping gods and praying for good luck of the villages of Lim region. He went up to the Noi Due General Festival on the occasion of autumn, August, with general regulations, and at the same time, he was also the one who initially built the customs of the festival in the spring and January.

Forty years later, in the second half of the 18th century, it was the people of Dinh Ca village, the general Nguyen Dinh Dien, who continued to develop and renew the Lim association. He provided fields and money for the general assembly to move the general assembly from the fall of August to the spring of January. He also spent money to buy half of Hong Van mountain (or Lim mountain) to build his tomb on the top of the mountain.

The Lim Society was maintained throughout the nineteenth century and the first half of the twentieth century. During the resistance wars against the French colonialists and the Americans to save the country, the Lim association was not opened for decades until the years after the renovation. Today, the festival is opened on the 13th day of the first lunar month every year.

Due to its expansion in both area and scale, it must be said that the  Lim Festival  is a large and elaborately organized festival.
