Those who play the main roles in the festival have to go through a selection process. The person who plays the role of the saint's mother, that is, her mother must be a beautiful, but perfect, model family. The person who plays the Holy Lady (ie Mrs. Le Hoa) and the two grooms must be unmarried boys and girls, well-educated, and come from well-to-do families.
