Hung Vuong Square - A beautiful and meaningful architectural work

Located in the administrative center of the province, in Ward 1, Bac Lieu city, Bac Lieu province, Hung Vuong Square stands out as a work with beautiful, monumental, meaningful architecture. recognized by the Mekong Delta Tourism Association as a typical tourist destination of the Mekong Delta that tourists from near and far every occasion to Bac Lieu cannot ignore. This is one of the cultural works built to serve the long-term socio-economic development needs of the province and was inaugurated on the occasion of the first National Don Ca Tai Tu Festival - Bac Lieu. 2014.

The square has a length of 366m, a width of 111m, with a total area of ​​38,554m2, designed according to high and modern aesthetic criteria; it is both a place to organize great events, gather a large number of people from all walks of life, and also a place for cultural and community activities of the province; The entire square yard is paved with natural stone. The square area includes many architectural works: flagpole, cultural symbol of the province, artistic fountain yard, symbol of 3 ethnic groups Kinh - Khmer - Hoa, green tree system, twinning symbol of Bac Lieu - Ninh Binh; All works are arranged into a harmonious architectural complex, highly aesthetic and unique, creating a highlight for the urban space of the young and dynamic Bac Lieu city.

Flagpole:  Located in the most solemn position of the square, the flagpole is over 20m high standing proudly with the red flag with yellow star - the sacred national flag of the Fatherland. Here, every Monday morning of the first week of each month, a sacred flag-raising ceremony takes place, with the participation of the Party Committee, the government and all classes of people in the province.

Cultural symbol of Bac Lieu province (stylized zither): This is the main item, located in the center of the square, with an area of ​​​​about 5,000 m2, 18.6m high, the lute is supported by 5 lotus petals lying on the ground. in the 5-pointed star-shaped lake along with the water spray system in the lotus pond and the artistic light to make the pliers shimmering and majestic. Therefore, the coordination of the shape of the cultural symbol of Bac Lieu province with shimmering lights and the surrounding modern water music system increases the aesthetic appeal of the overall architecture of the administrative center of the province.

The cultural symbol of Bac Lieu province is represented by the stylized zither and lotus flower. The don plier is a popular instrument in the orchestra of the Art of Don ca tai tu and the instrument that the late musician Cao Van Lau used to compose the immortal Ban Da ancient hoai lang. The lotus is the national flower, the image of the zither placed on the lotus flower  (stylized) shows the unique culture of Bac Lieu in the flow of the nation's thousand-year-old civilization. The lotus flower in full bloom represents the longevity and development of the Southern Don ca tai tu art in general, and the cultural characteristics of Bac Lieu in particular. The work has been set a record by the Vietnam Record Book Center  “The largest stylized zither in Vietnam”.

Artistic fountain yard: The spray floor consists of 3 segments with 68 nozzles from 1.5 to 3m high. The number of faucets corresponds to the number   "Loc Phat"  wishing for prosperity and continuous development for this land and for visitors every occasion coming to Bac Lieu. Nozzles with jets of different heights according to 9 sprinkler programs create a “dynamic” element for the square; forming lively “water dances” expressing the dynamic and modern life rhythm of a young coastal city.

The artistic fountain yard is designed to create accents and beautify the square on occasions of organizing major provincial holidays, parades, meetings, flag salutes, and cultural exchange events. and where community activities take place.

Symbol of three ethnic groups: Consists of 3 blocks shaped with high stylized art, reaching 9m. The three blocks of statues intertwine with each other, symbolizing the solidarity, attachment and joint effort to build and develop Bac Lieu homeland of the Kinh - Khmer - Chinese community of 3 ethnic groups.

On the symbol of 3 ethnic groups, groups of numbers are engraved, representing numbers related to historical milestones and important economic, cultural and social events of Bac Lieu province. Including the following topics:  “Events of Bac Lieu land”; "History of the Provincial Party Committee"; “The Great Battles”; “Typical cultural events”; “Typical socio-economic events”...

Leaving the numbers open, without accompanying captions, aims to arouse the interest and attention of visitors. Propaganda agencies, press agencies; the team of guides, narrators, volunteers... is the main force to propagate and convey the meaning of the above numbers associated with the selected typical events. Thereby, helping visitors inside and outside the province have the most general understanding of the province's history, economy, culture and society.

Green tree system: The green tree system in the square area is a highlight for the administrative center of the province, contributing to turning Bac Lieu city into a grade II urban area in 2014, Bac Lieu city "green -" clean - beautiful and civilized".

Along the two sides of the square, two rows of old trees with wide foliage are planted: Interspersed with Sesame seeds, signifying the "great fortune", the prosperity of the land of Bac Lieu; The number of 54 trees represents 54 ethnic groups in Vietnam. In addition, 39 Phuong Vi trees were planted, representing 39 years of liberation of the South and reunification of the country  (taking the landmark 1975 - 2014 was the year the square was inaugurated). Around the cultural symbol of Bac Lieu province, flowers represent the four seasons (yellow Huynh Anh, red cotton, white Mai Van Phuc, purple afternoon flowers).

The twinning symbol of Bac Lieu - Ninh Binh: The lake part has an area of ​​176 m2, on the lake are 3 curved arches linked together, symbolizing the coincidence, message, and majesty of the nature of the mountains and forests of Ninh Binh. blended with the typical pure white salt field of Bac Lieu, showing the solidarity and attachment of the two localities over the years without fading.

3 stone blocks taken from perlite of Ninh Binh province represent Ninh Binh river mountains and Bac Lieu rice fields. Stone material evokes the idea and association of permanence and eternity. The combination of 3 stone blocks evokes the verse: "One tree can't be young - Three trees together make a high mountain", expressing the solidarity and attachment between the two sister provinces of the two regions of the country... The back of the tallest stone block is engraved with a message about the twinning event of Bac Lieu - Ninh Binh.
