Nguyen Van Troi Bridge was built in 1960 by the American contractor RMK, consisting of 14 spans, possessing an arch architecture made of Poni steel truss, wooden bridge deck, 513.8m long, 10.5m bridge width, 8 carriageways, 5m, no sidewalk for pedestrians and is the first road bridge across the Han River with the function of transporting military equipment from Tien Sa Port to Da Nang inner city.

In 1978, the wooden bridge deck was removed and replaced with a reinforced concrete structure. In 1996, the bridge deck was replaced with steel plates to reduce weight due to the weak foundation structure.

In 2012, Nguyen Van Troi bridge stopped operating and in 2013, through the renovation process, the bridge was renovated, designed with additional functions that can be raised and lowered for boats to pass and serve the needs of walking. entertainment and sightseeing for residents and tourists.

Nguyen Van Troi Bridge will raise and lower the mid-span once a day on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. According to technical specifications, there are 4 lifting jacks with a lifting capacity of 1 jack of 100 tons, lifting speed of 0.233m/min. Lifting journey with a height of 3.6m. The length of the raised navigation span is 36.45m.
