The Avalokiteśvara Festival in Ngu Hanh Son, Da Nang is also known as the Avalokiteśvara Festival. This festival arose from the discovery of a stalactite statue of Avalokiteśvara by Venerable Thich Phap Nhan. The statue is the size of a real person, completely created by nature. Since then, the Venerable named that cave Quan Am and also built a temple nearby, leaning against Kim Son mountain and named it Quan The Am pagoda.
Since then, on the day of Avalokiteśvara every year, locals and tourists from all over come here to worship in large numbers. Therefore, to meet the worship needs of the people, the Venerable Monks at that time agreed to choose the 19th day of the second lunar month every year as the Avalokiteśvara Buddha's Resurrection Day at Avalokiteśvara Pagoda.
In 2024, the Avalokiteśvara Festival continues to be held on a city-level scale. The festival is expected to take place over a period of 5 days, from March 25 to 29, 2024 (on the 16th, 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th of February, Giap Thin year) with a ceremony and a festival part. In particular, expected highlight activities: The retreat will have a sermon activity for reformed people and people being managed after drug addiction; Non Nuoc - Ngu Hanh Son art photography contest; sketch about the Avalokiteshvara Marble Mountains Festival; write comments about the works of Van Hanh Library; Traditional Boat Racing Festival on Co Co River (historical account of General Tran Khat Chung rescuing Princess Huyen Tran)...
