Princess Tuc Trinh is the daughter of King Tran Thanh Tong (1240 - 1290). She left the palace to go to the Northwest of Thang Long capital. Here, the princess spent money to finance poor people to build houses, plow land, and develop production. After that, after establishing Co Nhue village, Princess Tuc Trinh continued to go to An Hoi village, Lien Mac commune, Tu Liem district to help people.
With that great contribution, the people of An Hoi and Co Nhue villages annually organize death anniversaries to commemorate Princess Tuc Trinh. On the 1st day of the 8th lunar month, at the hour of the Rat, people will hold the Moc Duc ceremony and make offerings. The Moc Duc ceremony is performed by an elder in the village. The elders are dressed neatly, wearing a turban, walking in neat shoes, and their long shirts and pants are all red. On behalf of the whole village, the elders will do things such as being vegetarian for a month, not sleeping with women to keep themselves pure... The water used in the rustic ceremony must be pure rainwater cooked with five spices. Before performing the ritual, the elders wash their hands called cleansing and sprinkle perfume on their body, rub it on their face, head and hands, the ritual is called cleansing. After that, the Lady's old votive objects will be burned to offer new clothes. The Lady's old clothes are often respectfully requested by people as a keepsake in the house. People believe that this will help their families be healthy, peaceful, and have a prosperous business, while children will grow up quickly and not get sick. At the end of the Moc Duc ritual, the celebrant will respectfully read a testament praising Princess Tuc Trinh's virtues and contributions to the village, praying for God's blessing and peace. peace for the people.
During the festival, if you participate, you will see offerings to the Goddess including incense, flowers, tea, and fruit. The food offerings include plain rice cooked with rice, sesame salt, black canarium salt, boiled bean sprouts, soy sauce, and green bean soup; Then there are sweet soup, sweet soup, and peanut candy. Everything is full and bustling with a festive atmosphere that has a unique beauty in Hanoi culture for a long time, still remaining over time that you will hardly find the same thing elsewhere.
