Every year the festival is held twice on the occasion of Spring Festival (2nd and 3rd day of the 3rd lunar month) and Autumn Tet (7th month of the lunar calendar) at Hon Chen Palace in Hai Cat village, Huong Tra town, Thua Thien province -Hue. Festival to honor Thien Y A Na Holy Mother.
Hue Nam Palace Festival (also known as Hon Cup Palace) is a traditional activity with spiritual cultural elements of a part of the population of Hue in particular and the whole country in general.
The ceremony took place very solemnly. The villagers hold sacrifices at the communal house. Before the main sacrifice day, there is a ceremony to welcome all the gods in the village to the communal house.
In which, the procession of Thien Y A Na Thanh Mau from Hue Nam to Hai Cat village communal house was held most solemnly.
The festival is like a folk culture festival on the Perfume River, crowded with boats paired with flags that people call the "bang", colorful incense burners, pilgrimage to Hon Chen Palace, a place of worship. Holy mom.
In the palace area and the area on the river in front of the palace, there will be a procession of Thien Y A Na Thanh Mau from Hai Cat village, a welcoming ceremony to welcome the Holy Mother back to the palace, a life release ceremony, and a lantern release ceremony, with adoration songs of the parish. Hue... attracts hundreds of boats up the Perfume River with a large number of tourists coming from provinces across the country to the festival.
The procession takes place on flats. On each level there is an altar to the Holy Mother along with a palanquin. On the palanquin is the royal coffin of the king bestowing the Holy Mother, next to it is another palanquin with the altar, palanquin and coffins of the two Thuong Ngan and Thuy Cung Thanh Mau. Next are the boats carrying the sacred weapons and the scattered flags and fans.
Through historical ups and downs, in recent years this festival has been restored according to traditional practices imbued with local folk culture. Hon Chen Palace Festival is also known as the Mother Goddess Festival, not only for the Thien Tien Puritans, but also for those who follow the religion of Mother Worship, filial piety, and humanity. In that sense, the restoration of the Hon Chen Palace Festival is the restoration of a traditional cultural value of a land.
