Every year, the Bai Dinh pagoda festival begins on January 6 and lasts until the end of the third lunar month at Bai Dinh pagoda, Gia Sinh commune, Gia Vien district. This is one of the biggest festivals in the North in the early days of spring, the opening ceremony for pilgrimage festivals to the ancient capital of Hoa Lu, Ninh Binh.
The festival consists of two parts:
Ceremony: includes rituals of burning incense to worship Buddha, commemorating the merits of Saint Nguyen Minh Khong, worshiping Cao Son god and worshiping Mother Goddess Thuong Ngan. The festival begins with a palanquin procession carrying tablets of God Cao Son, Saint Nguyen and Lady Thuong Ngan from the old pagoda area to the new pagoda area to conduct the festival.
Festival part: there are activities of spiritual and cultural nature such as: procession, calligraphy; Folk games; Visit caves, visit pagodas, enjoy the art of Cheo, Xam, Ca Tru singing in the Ancient Capital, organize cultural and art photo exhibitions to introduce Bai Dinh pagoda, Trang eco-tourism area An. Delegates, monks, nuns and tourists participated in the ceremony of releasing birds, praying for peace, good weather, and a prosperous and prosperous country.
The annual Bai Dinh Festival always attracts a large number of tourists to participate. Tourists come here not only to worship and offer incense to Buddha, but also to travel in the spring, sightsee, admire the magnificent scenery, and mingle with the vast, pure sacred space of the Buddha's land.
