 In the Nguyen Dynasty, Hai Van was the boundary between Thua Thien and Quang Nam. The mountain pass road is extremely dangerous, dangerous and difficult to go, many wild animals and robbers. For many centuries, very few people dared to go back and forth and Hai Van was an obstacle in trade and cultural exchange.

In 1902, the French colonialists built a railway across the Hai Van pass. located in the national railway system started in 1881.

 

This is really a miracle because of the extremely difficult terrain. Hai Van Railway goes around the mountainside, having to go through 6 tunnels and 18 bridges. The train going on the pass is a cliff on one side, a deep abyss and the sea on the other.
