Located at an altitude of nearly 1,000 meters above sea level, there is a Dao village nestled under the majestic Tay Con Linh peak, covered in fog all year round, that place is Xa Phin village, Phuong Tien commune, Vi Xuyen district, Ha Giang province.

With its high mountain terrain, this place has a cool climate all year round, with typical fog and humidity creating layers of green moss on the palm leaf roofs and stilts.

In the season of pouring water or ripe rice, visitors can admire the beauty of terraced fields and houses with green moss roofs. All create an ancient, peaceful look, a unique beauty only found in this place.

According to the people here, due to high humidity and very cold winters, the roofs of the Dao people's houses are covered with moss on the roofs of the Dao people's houses. Normally, moss grows a lot from October to April of the following year. Every 15 days, the moss dies and grows back with a new green layer. A house thatched with palm leaves will be warmer in winter and cooler in summer.

There are houses that have existed for several generations, the pillars are moldy and faded in the years, moss grows a lot on the roof, layers of moss are up to 10cm thick, and in some parts there are ferns growing.

Xa Phin village has 53 households and more than 40 houses with palm leaf roofs. Most people still live in traditional stilt houses, made of natural materials.

For every tourist who comes here, they are impressed by the peaceful and poetic land, containing its own unique features that are probably only found in Xa Phin.

Xa Phin village is about 20 km from Ha Giang City. To get to this place, you will have to go through small winding roads along the mountain slopes, next to which are terraced fields. In the distance, at the end of the road, you will see rows of houses on stilts with mossy palm roofs.

In addition, coming to Xa Phin, you can also admire the ancient Shan Tuyet tea forests hundreds of years old, the magnificent terraced fields from above, explore the primeval forest on the slopes of Tay Con Linh peak with its vegetation.
