Dinh So belongs to Cong Hoa and Tan Hoa communes, Quoc Oai district. Dinh So is located on a very beautiful terrain, leaning against Turtle Mountain, overlooking the Day River in front. The three-entrance gate of So village communal house has a series of 18-level stone steps leading down to the semicircular lake, on both sides there are two rows of stone railings, each end shaped like a soft, floating cloud.
The communal house has a campus of more than 4 hectares, with foreign domestic style architecture. The Great Court is 32.9m long and 13.1m wide; consisting of 5 rooms, 2 wings, 2 shelves, four roofs covered with ancient comedy nose tiles, the roof near two rows of hollow bricks with lemon flowers and four heads of swords with Nghe statues, curved up in the style of "Chinese style with roof leaves". The communal house is built with 6 sets of trusses, the roof is structured in the style of "Stack of beams - stand of gongs" on a grand scale.
The entire campus of the communal house has brick walls with flowered balconies in harmony with the red brick yard. On the left and right sides, there are two rows of strip houses, each row of 5 rooms with tiled roofs, running along to the Dai Bai house.
In front of the Dai Bai pavilion, there are three stone steps on both sides, two stone dragon statues are placed. Overall, the grand worship hall is tall, wide, and sturdy. The system of table doors and railings running along both sides creates a rustic, ancient feeling.
Inside the So communal house, the space is high, spacious and airy, consisting of 7 compartments and two wings. The Dai Dien compartment is located in the middle and is much sunnier than the compartments on the two sides. This is where the incense burner to worship the Holy House is placed, and is also where important rituals take place during the summer and Tet holidays.
Dinh So's artistic decoration is quite rich and diverse with a series of carved images of four sacred animals, four precious animals, unicorns, dragon horses, foxes, turtles, carp, lotus flowers, clouds... showing sophistication and skill. The skill and meticulousness of the artisans.
Dinh So is one of the masterpieces of architecture and sculpture. So Communal House was awarded 3 National Monument statuses: 17th Century Architectural Monument (1980); Historical - Cultural Relics (1995) and Special National Relics (2018).
