TPO - The feat of acclimatizing more than 200 ancient peach trees from the Northwest to Lam Dong creates a unique peach garden in the Central Highlands, surprising visitors.

This ancient peach garden is in Da Tro village (Da Nhim commune, Lac Duong district, Lam Dong), 30km from Da Lat city center. The garden is located along Highway 27C, a route connecting the two cities of Da Lat and Nha Trang.

As soon as they entered the garden, everyone was stunned to see about 70 peach trees ranging in age from a few decades to nearly a hundred years old, blooming brightly, pink mixed with bright red, fresh young leaves but rough stems. The bark color is dark brown, different from regular peaches.

The contrast between the spring of the flowers and leaves and the aging of the trunk and branches gives the peach trees a strange and impressive beauty.

Many peach trees are up to 4 meters tall and have shaggy trunks

Mr. Do Quoc Anh, the person who had the idea of forming this garden, said that before, on the occasion of Lunar New Year 2023, while traveling in Moc Chau district (Son La), he saw the ancient peach trees on this plateau so beautiful. So I spent hundreds of millions of dong to buy some trees to plant in Lam Dong. Seeing the tree's excellent shape, friends suggested that it should be planted into a garden for visitors. Mr. Quoc Anh cooperated with a number of people to survey land and climate conditions...

Mr. Quoc Anh shared that he and his group of friends bought nearly 500 old peach trees from gardeners from the Northwestern mountainous provinces such as Son La, Dien Bien, Lai Chau... These trees come in all sizes, shapes, and colors. longevity. To date, they have acclimated more than 200 trees to Lam Dong.

Consulting experts can acclimatize peach trees in the Northwest mountains to plant in Lac Duong district because these places all have temperate climates. The average altitude of some regions in the Northwest is about 1,100m, while Lac Duong is about 1,400m, the difference is not big; On the other hand, the land in Lac Duong is also suitable for growing peaches.

Transporting ancient peach trees is quite complicated because of the rugged, remote roads and bulky trees. "The cost of transporting an old peach tree from the Northwest to Lac Duong is up to several million VND," Mr. Quoc Anh shared. At the same time, the peach orchard owners in Lac Duong also hired a number of professional peach growers from Nhat Tan flower village to come to Lac Duong to take care of the trees, grafting more buds so that the trees have the right flowers and bloom right on Lunar New Year.

This grafted peach variety originates from wild peaches, has single 5-petal flowers, and is brought home by people in the Northwest mountains to plant and fertilize, so it has strong vitality. When transplanting Nhat Tan peach sprouts, Northwest peaches will produce double-petaled flowers, different flowers and deeper colors.

According to the garden owners in Lac Duong, about 500 old peach trees will be planted on both sides of a 1km long road in an ecological garden of dozens of hectares. The tree branches are intertwined to create a canopy of flowers for visitors to walk underneath. When immersing yourself in that space, you feel like you are in beautiful Japan.

Currently, the ancient peach garden in Lac Duong is filled with spring colors, thousands of shimmering pink colors in the sunlight, making people enjoy it. Because these old peach trees are 2-4 meters high, Mr. Quoc Anh designed the bridge to be quite long and over 1 meter high so that visitors can conveniently view the flowers and take souvenir photos.
