Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant was built in Hoa Binh province (from 1979 to 1991, Ha Son Binh province), on the Da River in northern Vietnam. This is the largest hydroelectric power plant in Vietnam and Southeast Asia from 1994 to 2012 (The record was broken in 2012 by Son La Hydropower Plant). Hoa Binh hydropower plant was funded by the Soviet Union (after 1991 to 1994, the Russian Federation) supported the construction and operation instructions.
