According to the Bac Yen district electronic information portal, Sa Mu peak is located on the border between Son La and Yen Bai provinces, belonging to Ta Xua special-use forest - an extension of the Hoang Lien range to the south.
This is also a famous rattan hunting spot in Ta Xua, as beautiful as the dinosaur spine, camel rock, wind peak,... In addition, Sa Mu peak also impresses visitors with its diverse primeval forest, covered with green moss, beautiful like a fairy tale movie.

There are two main trekking routes to reach Sa Mu peak, which are from Xim Vang direction and Hang Dong direction. Most tourists choose to start from the direction of Xim Vang with the road from the foot of the mountain to the top about 14 km, with a rest shack located 1 km from the top.
Tourists should start climbing early in the morning, stay in a tent overnight and then continue their journey the next morning.

Coming here, visitors have the opportunity to admire the sea of floating clouds, catch the sunset or hunt for the beautiful Milky Way at night. From December to February is the easiest time to hunt clouds on this mountain top.
If you come here in March and April, you can admire the azalea flower season. From around September to November is the season when maple leaves change, the leaves turn from yellow to red, creating a romantic landscape like Europe.
