Located next to the Saigon River, Bach Dang Wharf is not simply an entertainment area, but also a place marking the great and heroic achievements of the Vietnamese people. The image of floating, vibrant ships is deeply engraved in the minds of the people of Ho Chi Minh City. Currently, Bach Dang wharf has been renovated and upgraded to a more modern, airy space and has become a place that attracts many tourists because of its diverse and attractive services and activities. Bach Dang Ben Park, located in the center of Ho Chi Minh City, possesses an impressive history. This place used to be a swamp along the Saigon River, witnessing many ups and downs of the land of Saigon - Cho Lon. In the 17th century, Lord Nguyen Anh built the Ba Son shipyard here, contributing to affirming the strategic position of Bach Dang wharf. After capturing Saigon, the French colonialists turned this place into a busy port and named it "Quai de Belgique", then changed it to "Quai d'Argonne". Bach Dang Wharf marks many important historical milestones: the Cochinchina Uprising (1940), anti-American protests (1968) and especially the resounding Saigon Liberation event (1975). After 1975, the wharf was renamed "Bach Dang Wharf Park" and underwent many renovations, becoming a favorite destination of city residents. From the beginning of 2022, Bach Dang Park has been completely renovated, taking on a new look after a period of upgrading and renovation. The park is about 5,000 square meters wide and airy, expanding after relocating some buildings, removing some trees, building more paths, planting more grass... The paths in the park are paved with basalt, The grass is spread out green, and stone platforms for seating are arranged in a balanced manner throughout the park. The image of people and tourists coming here to admire the scenery, relax, read books and exercise is gradually becoming familiar. In particular, Bach Dang Park in District 1 has also become a favorite place for romantic dates, usually for young people. Coming here, visitors can easily experience the Waterbus or boat tour to experience the feeling of moving on the Saigon River, having dinner and admiring the scenery. In addition, the renovation of Bach Dang wharf park has created a destination for fun, photography and organizing cultural festivals between countries. Bach Dang wharf park has an area of 18,600 square meters, divided into 2 areas: Thu Ngu flagpole area and the remaining area. In particular, the area from wharf 2 to the flagpole is 8,700 square meters wide, with a construction cost of up to 35 billion VND. The park's layout shows inspiration from the lotus flower, with a soft lotus petal-shaped grass background and gray stone walkways. The section parallel to Ton Duc Thang street of 5,000m2 is also designed similarly. The park has a gray stone podium, stylized "stone benches", classic green light poles, and in front is an area where the ASEAN flag is placed. At night, the light from the lamppost creates the image of a lotus flower on the Saigon River, combined with a peaceful and vibrant space, creating a memorable evening for visitors. Although Bach Dang wharf park has just been redesigned, it has organized many big events such as: Saigon Central Market (3,000m2), street art performances... Since the beginning of 2022, Bach Dang wharf park Dang has become an ideal gathering spot for people in the area and a popular check-in point for tourists.
