VOV.VN - Located on National Highway 4A, Khau Coc Cha Pass is only about 2.5km long but has up to 14 "sleeve crabs", forming 15 extremely dangerous slopes. For a long time, this location has become a highlight of the majestic natural landscape of Bao Lac district, Cao Bang province.

On the way from Meo Vac (Ha Giang) to Bao Lac, tourists will move through Khau Coc Cha pass (Xuan Truong commune). A precarious, steep pass only 2.5 km long.

According to local people, this pass dates back to the French colonial period. At that time, this place was just a mountain trail with a width of only about 40cm, steeply clinging to the dirt mountainside, slippery and desolate.

Since 2009, Cao Bang province has invested, expanded the road and adjusted some dangerous sections to widen the road surface to 5m and cover it with asphalt. The bends are cut deep into the cliff to gain more space. (Photo: Bao Lac District People's Committee)

Although this is still one of the most dangerous passes in the Northeast region, since then, traveling between Bao Lac district and surrounding areas has become easier and more convenient. (Photo: Bao Lac District People's Committee)

Although not among the "Four great passes" of the North, this steep pass with 15 steep floors always has a special attraction for those who are passionate about traveling.

As a tourist from Ho Chi Minh City coming to Cao Bang, Ms. Le Thi Thu Ha could not help but be amazed when she set foot at the check-in point on Pac Thoc peak. “After I retired, I had the opportunity to go to Cao Bang, it was so wonderful, the people were lovely, the food was unique. There are both mountains and rivers, especially when arriving at the majestic Khau Coc Cha, it must be said that nature has been very favorable to Cao Bang," Ms. Ha shared.

The free check-in point at Pac Thoc peak is a trail for people here to herd goats on the mountain. Realizing that many tourists wanted to admire the panoramic view of the majestic pass, Mr. Nong Van Ngoan and his wife cleared the trail and paved a small area at the check-in point with concrete to help tourists enjoy the scenery safely. convenient.

Recently, the Ministry of Transport has allowed investment, repair, and handling of potentially unsafe locations at Khau Coc Cha Pass with a budget of up to 39 billion VND.

After upgrading, the visibility when passing Khau Coc Cha will be expanded, the entire road surface will be carpeted with asphalt concrete, a traffic safety system will be added, and an area will be created at the top of the pass to serve as a stop for technical inspection first. when going down the pass…
