Vi Ro Theo ancient village is located in Dak Tang commune, Kon Plong district, about 100km from Kon Tum city center. The ancient village has just over 60 rooftops with 300 people, all of whom are from the Xo Dang ethnic minority. Surrounding the village are terraced fields and cool streams.
The village is located in a basin, surrounded by Ngoc Ruong mountain range with 4 mountains Ngoc Ruong, Nhong Nang, Ngoc Chang and Vang I No, associated with legends from the village's founding.
Vi Ro Theo ancient village is located in a basin with about 63 roofs
Ngoc Ruong peak is considered the gate to heaven with an altitude of about 1,200m above sea level. Standing from here, visitors can admire the entire mountain range, overlapping and winding like a dragon, surrounding Vi Ro Theo village.
Possessing a wet, cold climate, it creates a rich and diverse vegetation in the ancient village of Vi Ro Theo. In particular, the Ngoc Ruong mountain range also owns a treasure with many species of forest flowers such as: Cymbidium, azalea, myrtle flower, buy flower... radiating color in all four seasons. More precious, on the top of Ngoc Ruong mountain there are five-needle pine trees with a lifespan of hundreds of years.

Taking advantage of the village located in the middle of majestic, beautiful and poetic nature, Xo Dang people in Vi Ro Theo village have been building a village with its own unique features. Besides, the people of Vi Ro Theo village always preserve many cultural features of national identity, community, solidarity, and cohesion in the village.
What makes this small village special and ancient is the preservation and preservation of ancient stilt houses from ancient times. These stilt houses have absolutely no mixture of concrete and reinforced steel. In addition, Xo Dang people also make use of driftwood and rotten wood from upstream to build simple, rustic gates that add a touch of antiquity.
Standing on Ngoc Ruong peak, you can admire the pristine primeval forests, sometimes hidden, sometimes visible behind the clouds.
From the entrance gate to the house, every household owns a wild orchid garden that radiates fragrance. About 2 years ago, these wild orchids were picked by people from fallen forest trees to plant in the garden and fence around the house. To date, all 63 households in Vi Ro Ngheo village have fragrant wild orchid gardens.
Orchids are not only planted by people as fences around their houses, but when the rainy season comes, people bring them to Ngoc Ruong heaven gate to plant and return them to the forest. That is also one of the measures to raise awareness of protecting native orchid genetic resources. This is the most different and unique feature in Vi Ro Theo compared to other villages in Kon Tum.

A Kieu (born 1993, Xo Dang ethnic group in Vi Ro Ngheo village) said: For more than 30 years, he and the people in the village have joined hands to protect every tree and orchid on the Ngoc Ruong heaven gate.
"From December of last year to April of the following year, this entire mountain range was covered with all kinds of cymbidium orchids. Villagers did not dare to uproot orchids for fear of being punished by Yang. Many tourists loved orchids and asked to pick them, but the villagers "I definitely won't let them. Every rainy season, people bring orchids from their homes to the plantation forest to propagate orchid varieties," A Kieu said.
Specialties of the Xo Dang people in the ancient village of Vi Ro Theo

By May 2023, the People's Committee of Kon Tum province has issued a Decision to recognize Vi Ro Theo village as a tourist destination with many specific types of tourism such as: Indigenous cultural tourism, ecology, picnics, relaxation... At the same time, the People's Committee of Kon Plong district was assigned to manage the tourist site of Vi Ro Theo village according to current regulations.

Kon Plong District People's Committee also selected nearly 20/63 spacious and solid houses to repair and upgrade into homestays to serve guests. The house has beautiful scenery and views. The house is designed in the traditional style of the Xo Dang people, with windows opening to the fields, overlooking fields, rivers and streams. When coming to this ancient village, visitors will be immersed in the daily life of Xo Dang people.
