Waterfalls are a rare sight in cities, not only in Vietnam but all over the world. Da Lat is an interesting exception, when in this highland city, there are three waterfalls open to tourists to visit.
1. Located on the upstream of Cam Ly stream, in ward 5 of Da Lat, Cam Ly waterfall is a famous landscape that tourists often visit when coming to the city on the Lang Biang plateau.
The beauty of this waterfall is made up of white foaming water flowing through large and small undulating rocks. The main waterfall is about 10 meters high.
There are many different interpretations of the name Cam Ly waterfall and Cam Ly stream. According to a recorded story, in the past, there was a Co Ho chief named K'Mly who had many merits, so the people in the area named the stream after him to commemorate, later the Vietnamese read the camp in Cam Ly citadel. .
Due to its proximity to the center of Da Lat, right from the beginning of the 20th century, Cam Ly waterfall has become a tourist destination favored by the French and local residents.
2. Located at the foot of Prenn Pass, in ward 3 of Da Lat city, Prenn fall is as famous as Cam Ly waterfall.
The waterfall is located in the rare primeval forest left in the area, with water flowing from the cliffs with a height of more than 10 meters pouring down like a white curtain.
The name Prenn of the waterfall comes from the name "Prenh" - the K'Ho word means "bitter coffee". After discovering this land, the French recorded the place name "Prenh" as "Prenn".
Today, Prenn waterfall and the surrounding area have been planned into a tourist area of the size of Da Lat. In addition to visiting the waterfall, visitors can also participate in many activities such as boating, archery, ostrich riding, exploring the temple system including Upper, Middle and Lower temples.
3. Also located in ward 3, Datanla waterfall is located in a more dangerous location and is exploited for tourism later than the two Dalat waterfalls mentioned above.
Due to flowing through many stone shelves with gentle slope, Datanla waterfall is not too noisy but still full of charm. The waterfall always has an abundant amount of water because the upstream is a stable source of water. Around the waterfall is a primeval forest with rich vegetation.
The name "Datanla" of the waterfall is derived from the language of the K'Ho ethnic group: "Dàh-Tam-N'ha", which means "under the leaves there is water". Around this name, there are many legends handed down by locals for hundreds of years.
Today, Datanla waterfall is a tourist attraction that attracts a large number of tourists in Da Lat. Besides admiring the waterfall, visitors from all over the world can also participate in exciting adventure games such as slide, rope climbing.
