The film version of Southern Forest Land is directed by Nguyen Quang Dung, based on the novel of the same name by writer Doan Gioi with an investment budget of up to 40 billion VND. "Southern Forest Land" caused a fever as soon as it opened in theaters.

According to the film crew, the film spent more than 48 days of official filming in 45 locations spread across the Western provinces, such as: An Giang, Dong Thap, Soc Trang, Long Xuyen, Dong Nai.

In the film, the floating market scene is recreated with dozens of bustling trading boats, surrounded by shops and restaurants with nostalgic hand-painted signs. The grand scene gathered more than 300 actors.

The Tra Su cajuput forest management board stretched banners on both banks with the words "Southern Forest Land Film Studio" to preserve memories. On the shore, a number of thatched houses, booths, and prop signs of the movie are kept intact for tourists to visit and check-in. A corner of the film's setting with the butcher shop, fabric merchant, gold shop - pawn shop of Mr. Ba Sang (played by Meritorious Artist Trung Dan) was retained.

Previously, director Ham Tran also chose Tra Su Melaleuca forest to make the magical movie That Son Tam Linh.
