Lung Pa Pass is in Van Quan district, far from the city center. Lang Son is about 28km in the direction of National Highway 1B.

In the last days of November, when rows of wild sunflowers planted on both sides of the road bloom in vibrant yellow color, the pass is given a new look.

The wild sunflowers here come from the "2020 Tree Planting Tet" movement of the Party Committee, government and people of Van Quan district.

Mr. Nong Van Tung - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Van Quan district proudly recounted: "All the seedlings were prepared by the people of Diem He and An Son communes. Wild sunflower is an easy-to-grow plant, just plugging in a branch can make it survive. Having a nearly 2km long road covered with colorful flowers like today, Van Quan district hardly spent any money."

Mr. Tung also said that in the past, there were only weeds along the roadside of the pass, but now wild sunflowers are grown to flower, creating an extremely poetic natural landscape.

People in Diem He and An Son communes enjoy going through Lung Pa pass every day and admiring their own achievements.

Wild sunflowers are also known as chrysanthemums, sunflowers or wild sunflowers, belonging to the daisy family. The tree turns yellow in October and November when the weather starts to get cold.

Lung Pa Pass road is winding with cliffs, now interspersed with rows of flowers, creating a poetic scene.

Although wild sunflowers are not as large as sunflowers, they grow in bushes so when they bloom simultaneously, they create a brilliant yellow carpet.

The season of wild sunflowers blooms as a sign that winter has arrived.
