The Xu Lang peach blossom variety belongs to the "bellflower cherry" family, also known as Taiwanese cherry. This cherry variety is often distributed from southern Japan, Taiwan, southern China to northern Laos and northern Vietnam. In Lang Son, this flower variety grows a lot in the Mau Son mountain area. The Lang bell peach variety has a unique feature, different from the "rhododendron" bell peach variety in Ba Na (Da Nang) and Yen Tu (Quang Ninh) in that although the flowers grow in drooping clusters. like a bell, but the petals of the peach bell flower of the "rhododendron" family are shaped like a small bell, the petals are as thin as glass with a pinkish color, different from the Lang Son peach bell flower of the "bell flower cherry" family which has petals. Thicker and clearly separated with a darker pink color, each flower usually has 5 petals, and the roots of the peach blossom bloom deep between the rock crevices.

With extremely strong vitality, Lang Son bell peaches can still sprout even when the climate in the high mountains of Mau Son drops below minus 3 degrees Celsius. In the Mau Son mountains at an altitude of more than 1,500m, these Peach blossoms blooming like bells signaling the return of spring, fluttering in the dew and mountain wind, pure and beautiful. Peach blossom blooms in the spring, usually from January to March of the lunar calendar, when the weather is springtime with clouds and dew. However, in leap years, peach blossoms bloom again around Tet. It can be said that peach blossom blooms relatively late compared to other peach blossom varieties, but perhaps because it blooms late, peach blossom has a unique beauty that is hard to describe.

In Lang Son, peach blossoms are mainly distributed in the areas of Cong Son and Mau Son communes, Cao Loc district and some areas in Bac Xa commune, Dinh Lap district. Mr. Trieu Sang Suan - an elderly person in Cong Son commune, Cao Loc district confided: I don't know when this peach variety grew in Mau Son mountain area, I only know that since I was a child I have seen bell peach blossoms growing. In the forest, there are many ancient peach trees with lush branches and leaves, each season blooming brilliantly throughout the entire hilly area. Later, the market economy developed, many people came here to exploit wild peach trees, including Mau Son bell peach trees, so now this type of peach is not as common as before.

Because of the uniqueness of this peach variety, during Tet, not only Lang Son people but also people in the provinces want to own a bell peach branch to display during Tet. This has led to a situation where some people freely exploit rare wild peach varieties.

Faced with the above situation, local levels and branches have implemented many solutions to preserve this precious bell peach variety. Specifically, in 2018, the Institute for Regional Research and Development researched and developed the bell peach tree. Since its implementation, the research team has conducted experiments with 1,500 trees with contents including: breeding Dig bells using asexual propagation techniques by grafting sections and branches; Build a breeding model with 3,500 plants propagated from seeds. After 5 years of nurturing bell peach trees, up to now, each year, the nursery implementing the project has successfully propagated about 3,000 - 4,000 bell peach trees. Peach tree varieties are planted and propagated in the Mau Son mountain area, Cao Loc district, Loc Binh district and some communes in Dinh Lap district, thereby contributing significantly to the conservation of this precious peach variety.

Together with functional branches, party committees, and local authorities that have this rare peach variety, they also implemented many practical solutions. Mr. Trieu Tien Truong, Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Cong Son commune, Cao Loc district, said: In recent years, the Party Committee and commune authorities have coordinated with specialized agencies to preserve ancient peach varieties. in the area, including bell peach varieties. Accordingly, our area has received technology transfer, technical training, and fertilizer support from functional units for people. In addition, to avoid indiscriminate peach exploitation, we have actively propagated to raise awareness of people in the area about protecting and properly exploiting peach blossoms, as well as replicating models. With the attention of the Party Committee and local authorities, currently, the ancient peach gardens in the area have initially been protected and put into tourism exploitation. Specifically, in the commune there are currently 6 families opening experiential tourism services and taking photos in ancient peach gardens.
