(CLO) Phu Yen is known as the land of yellow flowers and green grass. It has many famous and attractive places for travel enthusiasts. Nhan Tower is also one of the most mentioned places for its architecture, art, and beliefs of the people here.

Nhan Tower is majestically located on top of Nhan Mountain in Ward 1, City. Tuy Hoa (Phu Yen), about 3.5 km from the center of Tuy Hoa city, Phu Yen province with an altitude of 64m above sea level. The Ede and Gia Rai people call it Ko H'meng tower, the Kinh people call it Cham Tower and the Cham people call it Kalan Temple. Nhan Tower was built in the late 11th and early 12th centuries and is a typical architectural work of the ancient Cham people.

Regarding the name Nhan Tower, according to the elders here, this mountain was previously inhabited by the Swallow bird. This is a small, high-flying bird that can sometimes fly more than 60 meters. That's why the people here named the tower Nhan tower. There is also another way to understand that because the topography of the mountain resembles a swallow spreading its flapping wings when viewed from a distance, local people named the tower that way.

Nhan Tower was built in the late 11th and early 12th centuries and is a typical architectural work of the ancient Cham people.

The origin of this tower is rumored by many people. Some people say that in the past, a fairy Thien Yana descended to earth and taught the Champa people how to plow, weave, spin... After the fairy returned to heaven, the Champa people built a temple and tower. to express gratitude to that fairy.

In terms of architecture, Nhan Tower is a complex that is an independent square-shaped structure with 3 parts: Tower base, tower body and tower roof. The tower's base and body are both square in shape, symbolizing land, and the total height of all three parts is about 24m. The tower's base is designed to be larger than the tower's body, with a height of about 3.3m. At the top of the tower is a stone Linga statue - a spiritual symbol of the Champa people.

From a distance, Nhan Tower looks like four lotus buds. The second and third layers also have 4 lotus buds. The higher they go, the smaller and sharper they get. In each temple and tower of the Cham people, there are Linga and Yoni symbolizing the belief in fertility, praying for all things to flourish. The common feature of ancient Champa temple buildings is that the tower's interior often has a narrow space and only one door opens to the East (the direction of the rising sun), and the same goes for the Nhan tower. Inside the Nhan tower there is only one door with the altar of the goddess Thien Yana arranged full of offerings from the door looking out.

Ms. Tien Tien, a tourist, shared that she came to Nhan Tower not only to admire the beauty of this mysterious tower but also because she was curious about the materials that the ancient Cham people used to build the tower: "According to the guide According to the introduction, the tower is built entirely of closely spaced bricks that are very solid. This type of brick is about 1.3 times lighter in weight than a regular brick. Even the compressive and impact resistance is much better than regular bricks."

In the past, in construction, Cham people used entirely natural materials. It is known that the adhesive of the Dau rai tree is used by the people here to bind these bricks together firmly and without showing any trace of the glue. For the bricks to stick together so firmly, it is not only due to the glue mixture mentioned above but also thanks to the skillful hands of the builders. The bricks are using the grinding technique, which means that after applying glue, they grind the bricks together until the contact surface is completely tight without revealing any gaps.

The tower is built entirely of baked bricks stacked tightly together but is very solid.

"The architecture here is truly unique. Stepping into the tower, I was surprised to see that there were no statues or altars inside, only a small hut to hold incense for Lord Thiet An Na Dien's Supreme Summit. Ngoc Phi was built during the Later Le Dynasty. Around the wall, there are dragon patterns delicately carved on marble placed at the four corners of the tower. Don't look up from the inside to the top of the tower, you'll just see a mysterious, towering, deep space" - Mr. Hong Quan (Hanoi tourist) said.

Mr. Cong Luan (Nghe An) confided: "Standing on the top of Nhan mountain, looking out into the distance, I can see the entire panorama of Tuy Hoa city, the beauty here is so ancient, peaceful, worthy of your visit." Come here once in your life."

If you want to come here, come on the full moon day of the first lunar month. At that time, Nguyen Tieu poetry night took place here, attracting many famous writers and artists from near and far to exchange art. Nhan Tower is associated with many anecdotes and contains many mysteries that are always ready for tourists to explore during their trip to Phu Yen.
