According to the decision of the People's Committee of Lao Cai province, the area to protect the ancient stone road Pavie, Nhiu Co San village, Sang Ma Sao commune, Bat Xat district is determined according to the minutes of zoning of relic protection areas in the scientific records. study relics.

The Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Culture and Sports and the People's Committee of Bat Xat district to develop a plan to protect, manage, restore and use the scenic relic of the ancient stone road of Pavie in accordance with current State regulations.

According to many documents and records, the ancient stone road was built in the 20s of the last century, at this time, the French colonialists began their second colonial exploitation. Governor Auguste Jean - Marie Pavie was who surveyed and directed the construction of this route to transport food and agricultural products between the Northwest provinces of Vietnam. Therefore, the route is called Pavie. However, the people living here believe that, before that, their ancestors had conquered Nhiu Co San peak by this route and explored Lai Chau land, the French just continued to borrow the route from the Mong people. for transport.

Over time, although the path has been covered by grass and trees, the rocky road is still about 3 meters wide and extends more than 20 kilometers through complex terrain. In recent years, the ancient stone route of Pavie has become one of the journeys to discover magnificent nature that cannot be missed by tourists.

Pavie Ancient Stone Road is located at an altitude of about 1,000 m to 2,500 m above sea level. During the French colonial occupation, Nhiu Co San mountain was chosen by the French to build a military garrison because it had a strategic location and was the gateway connecting to Lai Chau province. The ancient stone road of Pavie is a testament to the long and persistent history of struggle of our army and people under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, causing the French colonialists to withdraw all troops from the Nhiu mountain area. Co San. By November 1, 1950, Lao Cai province was completely liberated, officially ending the oppression and domination of colonial and feudal forces. Since liberation, the ancient stone road Pavie has been chosen by people as the main road from Nhiu Co San village, Sang Ma Sao commune, Bat Xat district to Sang Ma Pho village, Sin Suoi Ho commune, Bat Xat district. Phong Tho. Over time, Pavie's ancient stone road has been greatly affected by weather, climate and people.

Currently, the length of the route is about 12km. Of which, in Lao Cai province, it is 6.4 km, with 4 km of road remaining relatively intact. The ancient stone road full of moss, through primeval forests and majestic high mountains, is very suitable for experiential and exploratory tourism and is a valuable source of practical materials to educate young generations about local history.

The ancient stone road of Pavie is like a rope connecting the tourism potential between the two provinces of Lao Cai - Lai Chau; a promising tourist route, awakening extremely unique cultural and historical deposits on the majestic Hoang Lien range.
