As the oldest temple in Hanoi, built during the reign of Ly Nam De, Tran Quoc Pagoda was formerly known as Khai Quoc Pagoda, located next to the Red River.

Like many other temples in Vietnam, the structure and interior of Tran Quoc Pagoda are arranged according to strict Buddhist principles. Consisting of many layers of houses with three main houses: Tien Duong, incense burning house and upper hall connected to form the letter Cong.
