Gia Lai is a famous land that everyone thinks of when mentioning tourism in the Central Highlands. It is a place with many famous landscapes and beautiful waterfalls. Some of the well-known waterfalls in Gia Lai include Mo Ia Khai Waterfall, Kon Loc Waterfall, and Hang En Waterfall. However, the paths to these waterfalls often hold many challenges, requiring visitors to hike through forest trails. So how can you have a suitable journey when visiting the waterfalls? Let us introduce you to a very interesting and challenging trekking itinerary to Hang En Waterfall.

Trekking Itinerary to Hang En Waterfall - Day 1

Hang En Waterfall (also known as K50 Waterfall) is a famous trekking spot located in the Kon Chu Rang Nature Reserve. This waterfall is situated between Son Lang and Dak Roong communes in Kbang district, Gia Lai province. To admire the majestic beauty of the waterfall, you should follow the trekking - hiking route through the Kon Chu Rang Nature Reserve.

To make your trek to Hang En Waterfall convenient, you should go to the Mien Dong Bus Station to take a sleeper bus to Kbang district the evening before. The journey from Ho Chi Minh City to Kbang district, Gia Lai province, is quite far, taking about 12 to 13 hours by bus, so make sure to depart on time to follow the trekking schedule.

If you depart on time, you will check in at Kbang Bus Station at 6 AM. This is the time to check your luggage one last time before moving on. Then, have breakfast at a nearby restaurant to prepare for the long journey ahead.

After breakfast, head to the Kon Chu Rang Nature Reserve to prepare for the trek to K50 Waterfall. Before starting the trek, you need to complete some paperwork with the Kon Chu Rang Nature Reserve Management Board.

At around 9 AM, you will start your trekking journey. Since the trek is quite long, about 13 km, make sure to warm up properly before starting.

After trekking for 3 hours, take a break and have a self-prepared lunch at Trai Bo area. After a one-hour lunch break, continue trekking 6 km through the forest and crossing streams to reach Hang En Waterfall.

If the trek goes smoothly, you will reach the waterfall after about 3 hours. This is a good time to relax and take care of personal hygiene. You can also take photos and check in at this beautiful and stunning waterfall in Gia Lai.

After enjoying the scenery, taking photos, and freshening up, prepare dinner with pre-prepared or easy-to-cook food like grilled meat or chicken porridge. At night, you will feel an indescribable sensation as you warm your hands by the glowing embers beside the roaring waterfall and the cool mist from the mountains. After dinner, you will have time to admire the beautiful waterfall, which looks like a long silk ribbon draped over the forest, and experience the feeling of spending the night in the forest.

Trekking Itinerary to Hang En Waterfall - Day 2

On the second day of the trekking itinerary to Hang En Waterfall, your total trekking distance will be similar to the first day.

To start a new day with interesting experiences, wake up before sunrise, peek out of your tent, and admire the Hang En Waterfall cascading down. The best time to wake up and enjoy the scenery is around 5 AM, when you can clearly see the transition from night to day. While enjoying the beauty of the early morning waterfall, you can also have breakfast before starting the trek back to the city.

The best time to start packing up your gear and tents to head back to the reserve is 8 AM. After breakfast and packing up, make sure to warm up properly before starting the 16 km hike back.

By noon, you can choose a good resting spot to stop and have lunch. If traveling with a group, this is a great time to share your feelings about the 2-day, 1-night journey. After that, continue trekking to the Management Board's location, then head back to Kbang Bus Station and return to the city by the pre-booked sleeper bus.
