Y Ty is a popular choice among young travelers because it is one of the most famous cloud-hunting spots in Lao Cai, Vietnam. The biggest difference of this tourist spot is its peaceful, rustic charm and its rich natural scenery. For nature lovers and those who enjoy exploring, Y Ty is definitely a must-visit destination at least once in a lifetime.

Located in one of the 135 especially difficult communes in Lao Cai, in the border area of Bat Xat district, about 100km from Lao Cai city center, Y Ty covers a natural area of 8654 hectares and has 11.94 km of border lines. Visitors are impressed by the mysterious, intriguing natural scenery and the fresh atmosphere at an altitude of 2000 meters above sea level, creating a pristine, majestic beauty.
Moreover, Y Ty is home to four main ethnic groups: Ha Nhi, H'Mong, Dao, and Kinh, which makes the local culture very diverse and unique. Y Ty captivates visitors with its endless fields, romantic cloud-filled skies, and towering mountains. All of these elements create a harmonious landscape for the Y Ty tourist area, attracting many tourists.
Visit Y Ty Market
When visiting Y Ty, Lao Cai, you should not miss the local market held every Saturday. The market offers various types of food, vegetables, consumer goods, clothing, and more. The market also gives you a chance to admire the beautiful costumes of the ethnic people, explore cultural beauties, and taste unique local specialties.
Kho Gia Gia Festival
If you visit Y Ty from July to September, you may encounter various festivals. Among them, the Kho Gia Gia Festival, an ancient cultural tradition of the Ha Nhi people, is held to pray for good harvests and rain. This festival was recognized as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism on December 19, 2014. The festival takes place from the Dragon day to the Monkey day of the sixth lunar month every year. It not only has agricultural significance but also is a time for descendants to return to their roots and ancestors. This unique festival attracts many visitors every year.
Muong Hum Market
Another activity you should not miss when visiting Y Ty is the Muong Hum market, where people from various ethnic groups such as H'Mong, Ha Nhi, Han, and Red Dao gather. You can witness lively buying and selling scenes, cheerful conversations, or even couples dating.

With its majestic mountains and an altitude of over 2000 meters, Y Ty has become a favorite destination in Northern Vietnam. Based on my experience, you can visit the following spots:
Moc 92 Nga ba Lung Po
Lung Po Junction is where the Red River meets the Lung Po River flowing into Vietnam. At the upper reaches of the Red River, you can see a beautiful picture of green rice fields and the sky. Moc 92 also includes markers 96 (1) in Vietnam and markers 92 (2) and 92 (3) in China. To reach Lung Po, you need to navigate many winding roads, so be careful.
A Lu
On regular days, A Lu is wild and majestic, but during the rice harvest, it becomes a wonderful painting. If you visit during the green rice season, you can see lush green terraced fields. During the ripe rice season, the scenery turns into a bright yellow landscape. The unique scent of rice during these seasons will leave you with unforgettable memories.
Ngai Thau
The road from A Lu to Ngai Thau is the most beautiful part of the Y Ty trip. You will be amazed by Ngai Thau's unique beauty, with its golden rice fields and clouds, creating a stunning view like no other place.
Lao Than
For young explorers who love "cloud hunting," Lao Than is a must-visit when coming to Y Ty. The peak of Lao Than is at an altitude of 2,860 meters, known as the roof of Y Ty. Although the journey is challenging, the result is rewarding as you can see and even touch the clouds.
