During my visit to Hue, I was eager to explore Tinh Tam Lake, a serene and historically rich location within the Imperial Citadel. The lake, a favored retreat for Nguyen Dynasty emperors, promised a blend of natural beauty and cultural significance.

Starting from the center of Hue, I traveled along Dinh Tien Hoang and Tinh Tam streets. The journey through ancient streets lined with lush greenery and historical architecture was enchanting. Upon arriving, the tranquil scene of Tinh Tam Lake greeted me, offering a timeless glimpse into Vietnam's regal past.
Tinh Tam Lake, with its rectangular shape and 1500m perimeter, is surrounded by robust brick walls and accessible through four gates. This architectural marvel was designed during the Nguyen Dynasty, emphasizing harmony between nature and human ingenuity.
The lake features three prominent islands: Bong Lai, Phuong Truong, and Doanh Chau. Bong Lai Island, located to the south, houses the Bong Doanh Palace and the Thuy Ta pavilion. Phuong Truong Island, centrally located, boasts the Nam Huan Pavilion and several other historical structures. Doanh Chau Island is particularly notable for its large rock garden and rare white lotuses.

A notable feature of Tinh Tam Lake is the Kim Oanh embankment, which connects the east and west banks. The Lục Liễu Bridge to the east and the Bach Tan Bridge to the south further enhance the lake's intricate design. These elements reflect the high artistic value of Nguyen Dynasty architecture, seamlessly blending natural beauty with human craftsmanship.
Visiting Tinh Tam Lake in early summer, I was captivated by the blooming lotus flowers. The rare white lotus, in particular, created a serene and calming atmosphere with its gentle fragrance. The lake's green waters and surrounding nature provided a perfect backdrop for photography, making it an ideal spot for capturing memorable moments.
Just 2 km from Tinh Tam Lake, Trang Tien Bridge is another iconic symbol of Hue. Known for its unique architectural style and historical significance, the bridge offers beautiful views of the Perfume River and is a popular spot for both tourists and locals. Dong Ba Market, located about 2.6 km from the lake, is a bustling market where one can experience local culture and cuisine. The market is filled with vendors selling a variety of goods, from fresh produce to traditional handicrafts.
