The more than 10-kilometer trek to the primitive Hang Tau village in Ta So hamlet, Chieng Hac commune, Moc Chau district, Son La province, has become an unforgettable memory for my colleagues and me.

Starting on a misty morning, we set foot on the rugged late rite path leading to the village. The steep, towering slopes and winding, meandering roads forced our group to take several rest stops. However, these challenges were a worthy reward as we approached Hang Tau – a place where time seemed to stand still.

Upon entering the village, we felt an unusual sense of tranquility. Surrounded by majestic high mountains, the village has a single entrance, making it truly secluded. Immersed in this setting, we felt as if we had escaped the noisy rhythm of city life and were living in a primitive, rustic era.
The simple wooden houses of the 20 Hmong households here painted a picture of a traditional village rich in ethnic culture. No electricity, no phone signal, no modern roads – all of these elements made us feel like we had returned to nature and the most fundamental values of life. Livestock leisurely grazing, chickens wandering around, and untouched mountains – everything formed a peaceful, serene picture.
An interesting aspect of this trip was the opportunity to rent traditional Hmong clothing for photos, capturing memorable moments. Additionally, experiencing the local lifestyle through meals of chicken, goose, and duck raised by the villagers themselves made the journey even more special.
Hang Tau is not yet marked on maps, but its mystery only adds to the allure of the journey. We felt as if we had entered another world, free from the hustle and bustle of the city, without phones or busy work. There was only peace, a relaxed mind, and the chance to connect with nature and the people there.
This trip not only helped us conquer a new location but also opened up a different perspective on life. It reminded us of the simple, primitive values that we sometimes inadvertently overlook amidst the hustle and bustle of life. I am grateful for the experiences at Hang Tau and hope that this place will always retain its primitive, serene beauty.
